What is your relationship like right now? Does it fill you with love, comfort, and joy, or evoke feelings of loneliness, anger, and resentment? While relationships can be extraordinary, they all come with challenges. Even strong partnerships face times of conflict and disconnection. With guidance and support, challenging moments can become catalysts for change, allowing you and your partner to emerge stronger together.

I am Dr. Mira Svatović, a licensed clinical psychologist and certified Relational Life Therapist (RLT), trained in couples therapy by Terry Real, the founder of RLT. Over the last 15 years I have worked with couples to break old patterns, strengthen connections, and become allies in creating the relationship they envision. Beyond couples therapy, I offer premarital counseling, parenting support, and guidance in all aspects of relationships. At the core of our happiness is connection, and with the right knowledge and tools, we can transform our lives by being our best relational selves.

How do we know if we need couples therapy?

Signs that you may need couples counseling include ongoing conflict, communication breakdowns, loss of intimacy, and feelings of distance from your partner. Additional indicators are unresolved issues, challenges during life transitions, differing goals or values, and a desire for personal growth.

Can couples therapy help if we are considering divorce?

Yes, couples therapy can help clarify feelings, improve communication, and explore options for reconciliation or an amicable separation. It can facilitate constructive conversations about the process, assist in co-parenting discussions, and future planning. Insights and relational skills gained during this process will be applicable to all relationships in your life.

Is parent counseling helpful for separated parents?
Yes, although you are separated, you are still raising a child or children together. Presenting as a team is critical for your child’s sense of safety and confidence in the world. Parent counseling can help you learn to effectively integrate both parent’s perspectives and values around rules, discipline, academics, social life, responsibilities, and expectations. Being a unified front for your child supports healthy development.
Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance. However, if your insurance provides out of network benefits, I can provide you with receipts for reimbursement to submit to your insurance company. Coverage for couples therapy varies by plan. It’s important to check your specific insurance plan and coverage.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

For clients facing financial challenges, I offer two sliding scale spots in my practice. If the spots are currently filled, I maintain a waitlist for those interested.

Do you do offer online therapy sessions?

Currently, all sessions are held online using Simple Practice online platform, a HIPAA compliant site, for all paperwork, video sessions, and payment.

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

Carl Gustav Jung

The real work of relationships is not occasional, or even daily: it is minute-to-minute. In this triggered moment right now, which path am I going to take? Rather than being overridden by your history, you can stop, pause, and choose.
