This 2-day relational skills workshop, co led by Dr. Keri Marcovici, provides an accessible and cost-effective alternative to traditional therapy. All individuals and couples who want to enhance their relationships and interpersonal skills are welcome to join. We will cover essential skills from Relational Life Therapy (RLT), created by Terry Real, while integrating insights from other leading relational therapy experts such as Esther Perel, Sue Johnson, and John Gottman. Through lecture, small group discussions, personal reflection, and role play, you will learn to:

1.Identify the Losing Strategies in Relationships

  • Recognize Triggers: Identify personal emotional triggers that lead to reactive behaviors, promoting awareness and self-control.
  • Historical Context: Understand how past experiences and family dynamics shape current relational patterns, facilitating deeper insights.
  • Intervention Strategies: Develop practical strategies to interrupt these patterns and implement healthier alternatives.

2.Learn Effective Relational Skills

  • Active Listening Skills: Cultivate the ability to listen with curiosity and without judgment, focusing on true understanding of another’s perspective.
  • Asking Open-Ended Questions: Practice engaging in conversations that encourage exploration and deeper sharing of thoughts and feelings.
  • Creating Emotional Safety: Foster an environment where everyone feels safe to express themselves, enhancing connection and empathy.

3.Build Healthy Self-Esteem and Boundaries

  • Self-Worth Exploration: Discover techniques to enhance self-esteem, understanding your intrinsic value and how it affects relationships.
  • Boundary Setting: Learn to establish and communicate personal boundaries effectively, creating mutual respect and reducing resentment.
  • Empowerment: Gain confidence in asserting your needs and desires without fear of conflict, building a healthier relational dynamic.

4.Create a Self-Regulation Toolbox

  • Emotional Regulation Techniques: Learn practical tools to manage your emotions, such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, and grounding techniques.
  • Coping Strategies: Identify personal coping mechanisms to deal with stress and conflict in healthier ways, reducing impulsivity.

5. Practice the Winning Strategies in Relationships

6.Move Away from Reactivity into Connection
